Description
by Ariana and Moira Here is how you make Petco, the puppy patternoid. To make Petco you need these pattern blocks: two green triangles, two blue diamonds, one white rhombus, and two yellow hexagons. Stack two hexagons on top of each other, so that they both touch the paper and they’re flat. On the bottom hexagon, put two green triangles on your left side. The green triangles should be touching sides on the hexagon, one triangle should be on the upper left side of the hexagon. On the right bottom side of the lower hexagon, put the white rhombus pointing up away from the yellow hexagon. This is how you make the top half of Petco. Take the blue diamonds and put one on the left upper side, making sure the sides are touching, not the corners. Then make sure that the part away from the yellow hexagon is pointing up. Put the other diamond on the right upper side, that’s pointing downward. This is how you color Petco. The colors you need are brown and pink markers, a black pen, and a pencil. Draw a pink paw on his upper foot, three toes and a palm. Draw a circular nose with a black pen, on the upper hexagon. Draw two eyes that are oval shaped on the upper hexagon. By the nose draw three dots in the shape of a triangle, three on the left of the nose. On each of the dots draw one whisker. For the mouth, make it connected to the nose, going into a smile, then add a tongue. Make sure it’s in the mouth, but you can still see it. For the eyes, draw in a small bubble in the center of the eyes, but don’t color it in. Then on the right eye draw a black circle towards the right side. There should be a small crescent-like gap, draw a curved line above the gap to make it look like a crescent. But you can still see it. In the ears draw a pink oval shape, one in each ear. In between the two yellow hexagons, draw a collar. In the center of Petco’s collar draw a small circle with the word “Dog” in it with your black pen. Then color in the circle with your pencil. Draw a thick line connecting to the small circle, and then on the other side of the circle make another thick line connecting to the neck and the small circle with your black pen. Do the same on the other eye, except the crescent should be on the opposite side. Draw an eyebrow above each eye, the inner part of the eyebrow should be pointing up so he doesn’t look evil. Everything you’ve drawn on Petco should be outlined with your black pen or overlined with pen. The parts that should be colored pink are the inner ear part, the mouth, the tongue, and the paw. The part that should be colored brown is the body. The part that should be colored with your pencil is the whole collar. The part that should be colored with your black pen is the outline of Petco, the collar strap, the outline of the small circle on the collar, the word “Dog” in the small circle on the collar his nose, the outline of his paw, the outline of the oval on his ears, his whiskers, the three black dots, his eyes, and his eyebrows. That is how you make Petco. We hope you have fun making him |
Analysis
by Moira and Ariana Things That Went Well We think some things went well on Petco. They did a really good job with the ears because they made sure that the left ear was pointing up and the other was pointing down. They got the whole shape of the body right. They also did a swell job with the collar and writing the word “dog” in the middle. They did well making the tail on the right side. They did a good job on the eyebrows. They did wonderful on a lot of things! Ways to Improve Most things you did were correct, but some things we probably needed to make clearer. One of the things that wasn’t clear was the paw print. The paw print is only inside the upper foot. The head, tail, feet, and ears were supposed to be brown. Petco should have three whiskers instead of two. The nose is supposed to be a horizontal oval. The mouth and tongue are supposed to be pink. Over all, they did a great job! |
