Polygonoid
Description
by Sierra and Meagan

We are going to describe a polyonoid named The Mutated Pumpkin. We are going to tell you how to make the shape of the head first. Don’t color yet! The head is made out of seven hexagons and looks like a flower. In between the outside hexagons there are five blue parallelograms. It should look like a big octagon with a dip in the top and a point at the bottom.

Now we will describe the stem. In the dip put a hexagon with the point facing down towards the dip. On the sides of the top hexagon put one blue parallelogram on each side. They should be facing up. Don’t color yet! The two parallelograms are colored dark green with two yellow dots in each of them. The middle of the stem is light green. It has three yellow dots in it. One dot is at the top and the other two are at the bottom.

On the top right side of the pumpkin there is a vine going down. It is made out of four beige parallelograms. They connect at the points. Color the vine green.

The face is orange with four black lines that are spaced evenly apart. The eyes are oval shaped and the bottom is colored in black. The right eye is a little bigger than the left eye. The mouth is oval shaped. It has two teeth on the top and three teeth on the bottom. It should look like a pumpkin when you are done. We hope you enjoyed building our polygonoid!

Analysis
by Meagan and Sierra

Our partners at Escondido did a good job following our directions. They colored the stem the right colors, but the rhombuses were not in the right spots. The yellow dots on the stem were put in the right places, but were not the right amount. The stem had the right amount of tan rhombuses. The stem was not curving down and was not connected at the points. We forgot to tell them to outline everything in black.

The body was the right shape and right color. They did the right amount of lines, and the mouth was the right shape. However they did not do the right amount of teeth. We were not clear about describing the spacing between the teeth.

They did the right amount of lines on the body, but they were not curved. The eyes were ovals, but they were not turned the right way. Overall, they did a fantastic job because they got most of the parts correct.
