Polygonoid
Description
by Atticus and Michaela

To make your highly energetic Partydude you will need two blue rhombuses, one yellow hexagon, one orange square, ten thin white rhombuses, two green triangles, and one red trapezoid. Now listen carefully to these directions.

First take a green triangle and put it on the paper close to the top. Then put a red trapezoid under the green triangle so that the two shapes form a pyramid shape together. Right about were the triangle meets the trapezoid put two white thin rhombuses so you could fit a triangle between them while they are still touching at a point and make shore the point where they both meet is where it touches the pyramid. Put this on both sides of the head part. Then put a yellow hexagon with one of its sides touching the red trapezoid with an equal amount of the red trapezoid on each side. Now take an orange square and put it on the opposite side of the part touching the red trapezoid.

Now make the legs. Where the yellow hexagon and the orange square meet put two blue rhombuses, one on each side. Now using four white rhombuses, take one of them and put it so it touches one of the sides of the orange square. The white rhombus is pointing down. Use another white rhombus and put it on one of the sides that come down to a point. Now do this exact same thing with two white rhombuses on the other open side of the orange square.

Now make the tail. Right in the center of the two white rhombuses on each side put the last two white rhombuses so that they touch each other. One of the sides of each white rhombus is touching one side of the other white rhombus so that you can put the last green triangle in between the part with the hole, which is filled up by the green triangle.
Now it is time to color your Partydude! You are going to need these things to color your Partydude. You will need a blue marker, a red marker, a green marker, a beige marker, a purple marker, a yellow marker, a black marker, and an orange marker. First outline your Partydude in black, then put away all the pattern blocks. Next, using your red and blue markers put diagonal stripes on the hat to make your party hat. Now for the eyes, use your black marker and draw two small circles close to the triangle but do not let them touch! Draw one triangle in the center of each circle but make sure all three points of the triangle are touching the circle. Using the black again, make a square nose in the center of the head and color it in with black. Also color the triangles in with black. Make a mouth and fill it in with a zigzag shape. Color in all the rest of the white on the head with your beige marker. Also go all the way down and color the tail in with beige. Also color in the two blue rhombuses with beige now you are done with your beige. Color in the yellow hexagon and the orange square with purple dots and put a purple sleeve on the hand. For the ears you will need your green and your orange. Make a mouth-like sliver going upward into the two white rhombuses and color it in orange. Then fill the rest of the ear in with green. Do the same thing with the other ear. Last but not least—your legs. For this you will need yellow and red. Take your red and draw a curly thing all the way down but stop before you get to the very end of the feet. Now color the whole leg in yellow and do this exact same thing with the other leg. If you followed the directions carefully you won’t have a problem.

Analysis
by Michaela and Atticus

Our re-creators did a great job re-creating our Party Dude. They did a great job making the legs by following the directions and doing everything as told. They did an awesome job at building the hat because it was almost exactly like ours. Our re-creators did the legs perfectly except for the fact that they put a line through the middle. They were probably trying to show that there were two thin rhombuses. The mouth and nose were fabulous. We can’t believe they did such a good job. The arms were done so well that we couldn’t tell the difference between them and the original.

Now we would like to talk about the things that did not turn out as well. When we told our re-creators about the ears, we made the sentence really confusing. We did not explain points and sides very well. The tail was not done very well because they did not understand when we asked them to connect the tail to the side of the square.

Overall, our re-creators did a great job. We hope that we did as good a job re-creating your polygonoid.
