Yellow and Gold

Mystery Painting Description

by Matt and LiAnn

Mystery Painting

recreated by our Walter Hays partners

The painting "Yellow and Gold" is by Mark Rothko. The size of this painting is 66 by 62 inches. It is in the Philip Jonhson Collection in New Canaan, Connecticut. It was painted in 1956.

This painting is painted with the paper vertically. This painting has the colors orange, yellow, and peach. Yellow is on the top in a non-perfect rectangle. Peach is a thick, non-perfect, long rectangle in the middle. Orange is on the bottom in a non-perfect rectangle. All three rectangles are about the same size. There is a much lighter peach border that surrounds the three rectangles. All shapes are rectangles. This painting makes us feel happy.

Analysis

by Matt and LiAnn

We think we did a good job of describing because our partners did everything we told them to do. We also think we described the rectangles well.

We think we could have improved our description of how dark the picture was. We also think we could have said that if they did not have peach, that would be okay.
