Start with a piece of normal drawing paper and turn it horizontally. There are four stripes across the painting. The top stripe is black, then comes yellow, then black, and then red. There are four grey triangles painted on top of the striped background. One triangle's corner touches the top left corner, and another's corner touches the bottom right corner. On the top, the other triangle is on the right with its side touching the top and its left corner touching the middle. On the bottom the other gray triangle has a side against the bottom of the painting. The right corner of the triangle is touching the middle. There is a gray line down the middle of the paper. There is another gray line coming from the bottom left corner to the top middle. The diagonal gray line is coming from the top right corner to the bottom middle. The three gray lines make four big triangles that make the stripes zigzag by about 1/4 of how tall the stripe is. Our painting was painted by Larry Zox and is part of the "Scissors Jack Series." It was painted in 1965-1966. It is in the Kornblee Gallery, New York, New York. |
Analysisby Julian and DevonOur partners made all four gray triangles, all three gray lines, and all four stripes. They used all the right colors, too. We could have said that the stripes took up the whole page, that there was no white, and that all the gray lines met in the middle.
