Portrait of Me

Description of My Portrait

by Ruven

Portrait of Me

recreated by Nathan

I have done my self portrait in the style of Vincent van Gogh. I used pastels. The colors that I used are red, blue, black, peach, and brown. The paper that you are using should be set up with the short ends on the top and bottom.

My head is in the center of the paper, with about one fourth of the paper above and below my head. My head is slightly turned toward the left side of the paper. My hair is brown mixed with black, and is cut straight across my eyebrows. My skin is peach mixed with a little bit of black. My eyes are outlined in black. You cannot see my eyebrows. The iris is brown and the pupil is black. My nose is also outlined. It has no bumps. My mouth is red mixed with black. There is a black line in the middle of it, which is the opening of my mouth. My neck is very short. The shirt I am wearing is pure black. The bottom edge of the paper should be right before my arms start.

The background is red and blue stripes going diagonally towards the bottom right. There is no space between the stripes. You should use the sides of the pastels to make these stripes. After you have colored the background, you are finished with the portrait of me.

Analysis

by Ruven

Nathan got the background all correct. He also got the colors of the face and the shirt right. I think I described the lip color well because he got the exact color it was supposed to be. The shapes of the background and face are all correct except for the nose.

I forgot to tell about the ear that I drew. I also did not describe the shape of the nose. I think he forgot to make my neck really short and to draw the head with one fourth of the paper on the top and the bottom of my head. The hair color was a little bit different because I forgot to tell how dark it should be. I think overall Nathan did a really good job.
