Portrait of Me

Description of My Portrait

Portrait of Me

recreated by Taylor

I made my portrait in the style of Georges Rouault. I used paint: dark blue, orange, yellow, magenta, purple, black, and light blue. I used 11" x 17" paper.

My head starts three and a half inches above the bottom of paper. My head is in profile looking left. My neck is below my head. My neck goes out to three and a half inches from the edge of the paper at the top and goes out five and a half inches from the edge of the paper at the bottom. My head is eight inches long. My bangs go down two inches from the top of my head. Above my head there is six inches of open space. My ears are not showing. My hair goes out an inch from the edge of the paper, and ends one inch from the bottom of the paper. My eyes are seven and a half inches from the bottom of the paper. They are one inch wide and a half of an inch long. My eyes are white with a light blue circle in the middle. In the bottom left corner of the light blue circle is my pupil. It is small and black. Above my eye is my eyebrow. My eyebrow is a mix of a lot of orange, a bit of green, and red. My eyebrow is one fourth of an inch long and one inch wide. My nose goes as far out as my mouth goes in, about three fourths of an inch. My head and neck color is orange and yellow; my hair color is yellow, orange, and green.

The whole background is blue, except there is a stained glass window shaped like a rectangle with the top curved. The stained glass window is on the left of me and in back of me. A little bit is covered by my face. The window starts three inches above the bottom of the paper, one inch from the left side of the paper, and three and a half inches from the top. The top shape is dark blue with a bit of green. The two next to it are light green (left), red (right). Those two shapes are a bit lower than the blue. In between the red and green there is a mix of purple and a bit of green and magenta. Below that is a mixture of dark blue, green, purple and orange to make brown (left) and a shape that is magenta (right). Below the brown, there is a dark blue shape. Next to it there is a light green mixed with light blue. Under it is a purple shape. To the left and below is a yellow shape. To the right of that is an orange shape mixed with a bit of dark blue. In the last empty space, below the purple, there is a light blue shape. All shapes are outlined in black.

Analysis

by Dora

The head and the neck are the right shape and length. The eye is the right color and shape. The nose is the right shape and size. The hair stopped at the right place. The pupil is in the right place.

I forgot to say that everything was outlined in black. I also forgot to say that my body is scrunched up in the right side of the paper. My head and neck color is supposed to be a mix of orange and yellow. The background is supposed to be dark blue and have a stained glass window. I forgot to explain my chin. I also forgot to say I was smiling and not frowning. I could have been more specific about saying my mouth only goes in three fourths of an inch, not one and a half. I also could have made it more clear that my bangs go down only two inches from the top of my head.

I liked doing this project because it gives us a chance to communicate with another class, follow directions, and have fun at the same time!
