Portrait of Me

Description of My Portrait

Portrait of Me

recreated by Michael

You are going to draw my portrait in the style of Vincent van Gogh. You will need oil pastels in the colors pink, black, brown, peach, yellow, and blue. The paper must be vertical and 12" x 18".

The end of the neck is about two inches above of the paper. The top of the head is an inch down from the top of the paper. From the chin to the top of the head is 12 inches. The tops of the eyes are in the middle of the head and the chin. The eyes should be two inches apart. The eyes are like almonds. The eyes are 4 cm long and 2 cm wide. Under the eyes are the cheeks that are blushed. They are 2 and 1/2 inches long and one inch wide and it should not look like a square. In the center is the nose. It should be between the blushes. The nose has to be an inch long. An inch below, you draw a lip. The lip is a lengthwise oval; the top has two bumps close together. The lips are light pink as are the blushes. The eye's pupil is black and iris is dark brown. The eyebrows are 2 cm above the eyes and they are black. The skin is mostly peach with yellow shading. To draw the hair, you start by drawing a line from the top of the head and draw a line down to my eyebrows. Then make straight hair along both of the sides of the head going past the shoulders. Use black and brown and give me lots of hair. At the end of the neck, use a light pink to draw a half circle around the neck.

For the back ground, you will need the color yellow, brown, and blue. Use one of those colors and draw diagonal lines from the right side to the left bottom corner. Continue doing that with the other colors until the background is filled in.

Analysis

by Annie P.

My partner did well on the stripes on the back of the background. The whole eye was right, as were the lips and the eyebrows. The colors were mostly right.

My partner drew the neck too skinny. I should have said that the neck was about two inches wide instead of saying how tall it was. He also did not draw correctly the thing that was under the neck; instead, he drew a line. Maybe I should have said that it was a half circle instead of a semi-circle.
