My portrait is in the style of Georges Rouault. You will need these colors of paint: black, yellow, magenta, red, blue, and orange. Mix green and orange for brown. You should use the paper vertically. The portrait is a profile. Take 11 x 17" size paper. There is a 5 inch space for the background on top of the head. From the top of my forehead to the chin, it is 8 and 1/2". From the chin to the bottom of the paper, it is 3 and 1/2". The head is about in the middle of the paper, and it is 8" wide from the nose to the back of the head. Once you have finished the shape of the head, with a black paint outline, you should draw the ears. The bottom of the ear is level with the nose, about 5" to the right of it. Next to the ear is hair. The hair is black, and it goes straight down my shoulders. There are bangs. Around the head is a thick red headband, with a blue-purple streak in the middle. The eye's iris is brown, the pupil is black, and there are eyelashes on top of the eyelid. The skin color is yellow mixed with a tiny bit of orange. The lips are red, and there is a slightly red blush on the cheekbone. The sweater I am wearing is green. The background is blue with streaks of magenta, purple, red, and orange, like a sunset. There is an orange and yellow sun in the background. It is in the right hand corner and only partially shown. There are orange rays outlined with black coming from the sun, alternating about 1 to 2 inches long. |
Analysisby AnnaI think my partner painted the sun well; she alternated the rays. The headband also was done well; the red and blue colors were the same. The sweater color was green, and she got the colors right. The color of the hair was good, too. Amanda could have improved on the face, which was a little too orangy. The blush is actually bigger, I could have written that the blush is on the whole cheek, not just the cheekbone. The background's blue was too light, and I should have written that the background was dark blue. The streaks of colors were too few; my streaks practically covered the blue. I could have said that there were many streaks. I liked drawing the self-portraits, and then seeing how different your partner's portrait of you was! |
