Mystery Painting Description
by Riley and Katie

This is how you make the painting we chose. There is a really light gray-blue rectangle that is 1/4 of the whole picture. Also, there is a kind of dark blue rectangle that is 1/3 the size of the first rectangle. There’s a big yellow piece that takes up half the picture that is in between the first and second rectangles. There’s also a rectangle that is 1/3 the size of the blue one. It is gray. There’s also a little blue after the gray stripe. We hope you do well on our painting.

Analysis
by Katie and Riley

Our partners got most of the colors right. They got the right location for the gray line but didn’t make it go far enough.

We should have told you where the blue rectangle was. It was supposed to cover part of the top all the way across. Also the gray streak is really skinny, kind of like a baby snake but all the way across is the same size. The yellow part is kind of in the middle probably 1/2 inch higher. The two rectangles on the bottom are layered; the darker one goes on top of the lighter rectangle.

Our painting was made by Mark Rothko. It is called #10 and was made with oil on canvas. It is 76 3/8 x 57 1/8 inches. It is in the Museum of Modern Art in New York.
