Mystery Painting Description
by Hanna and Christine

We are going to tell how to draw our peanut picture.

  1. Get out beige, red-orange, and periwinkle tempera paints. You’ll have to mix the periwinkle and the red-orange yourself.
  2. Get a pencil and draw a square.
  3. Turn the paper vertical and draw two vertical peanuts in the square and fill up almost all of the square, but don’t go out of the square.
  4. Paint the right peanut periwinkle and the left peanut beige.
  5. Now paint the background of the square red-orange.
Now you should have our modern art piece. Good luck!
Analysis
by Christine and Hanna

Ella and Trish did a very good job drawing our Modern Art piece. Here are the things that went well. They did extremely well on painting the colors in the right places. The square was centered in the middle of the paper.

Although they did a good job, we could have been a lot clearer. We should have said to put the paper horizontally. We also should have found a better way of saying, "paint the peanuts in the square so all of the parts of the peanuts are inside."

This piece of art was made by Tony Smith. It is called "Louisenberg #2". It is a 39 1/4 x 39 1/4 inch oil on canvas piece. It was painted in 1953-1954. It is now in the Museum of Modern Art, New York.

Ella and Trish did a marvelously magnificent job on our Modern Art description.
