Mystery Painting Description
by Tara and Mitchell

Please read the directions carefully. Put the paper vertical and make a triangle on the top left corner. Split the triangle in two. Draw black lines to outline it. Color the triangle close to the bottom green, and the other one light gray.

On the bottom right corner draw a small red horizontal rectangle. Outline it in black only on the outside. Keep making the line so it goes from the bottom to the top and the other one goes from the right to left until it touches the end of the page. Color the bottom space light gray and the other one very very light grayish blue. The background is white. Good luck on making the painting!

Analysis
by Mitchell and Tara

Allison and Danielle did a great job drawing our painting. They used the correct colors in the right place of the painting.

This is what we could have done better. You do not divide the triangle by the point, like we said. You divide it a little to the left. The gray triangle is very, very, light gray.

Theo van Doesburg is the artist of the painting. It is called Contre composition simultanée. It is oil on canvas and 19 3/4 x 19 3/4 inches. It is at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art.
