Geometric
Description
by Boot and Michaela

We are going to make a geometric named Mrs. Dogcat. To make the head, take a hexagon and put it about two inches away from the edge of the paper. Then take two trapezoids and put them on the bottom left and the bottom right of the hexagon facing outwards. Now take two rhombuses and put them on the top right and the top left of the hexagon facing out so there is no gap. Next get three triangles and put them on top of the shape.

To make the body, get one hexagon, six trapezoids, and five rhombuses. Take a hexagon and put the point on the bottom of the head. Take two trapezoids and put them on the sides of the hexagon so the short part is facing outwards. Take two rhombuses and put them in the space. Take two trapezoids and put them next to the rhombuses and have them face each other. Now in the gap you just made, put a rhombus. Take two rhombuses and put them on the side of the two top trapezoids. Now take two trapezoids and connect them to the edge rhombuses so the trapezoids are facing upwards. To make the legs take two rhombuses and put them on the bottom of the trapezoid. Now do it one more time. Then put one triangle at the end of each leg.

Now make the accessories and color. Make the eyes a slanted oval on each side of the head. Place a dot at the end of each eye in green. For the nose, just make a small equilateral triangle in the middle of the head. The mouth is a wavy brown shape. Color it with a yellow maker. The hair is long, blue, and striped. One side of the head is brown. Then on the left and right ear make a smaller triangle in red. Outline the triangle in purple. The middle triangle is yellow. Going up each arm are black loopy loops. On the bottom of the body there is going to be a target. Don’t color anything yet! The left side of the target is red. The other side is black. The right side is blue. The left side is red. Don’t color over anything, even the legs. The right side of the leg is green. The left side of the leg is blue. Congratulations! You have finished Mrs. Dogcat!

Analysis

The Escondido students did really well on our geometric shape. The colors were almost exactly correct. The body (shape) was pretty good. The design was almost perfect. The swirl design was exactly the same as ours. The hair and ears were the exact same design that we did. The head had the same color that we had. The shape of the legs is superb. The middle triangle on the head was exactly like ours.

To make the legs look better we could have said, “Color the right leg green. Color the left leg blue.” To make the triangle on the top of the head look better we could have said, “Fill in the triangles. To make the body color look better we should have said, “Fill in one half of the body blue. Fill in the other half red.” We shouldn’t have written, “Don’t color over anything.” We should have moved the stuff about the color of the legs before the part that you crossed off. You did really well on our geometric shape.
